Literature Text

When I was a child, like so many others played the role of god
Victimizing the creatures I deemed beneath me.
Genocide of the ants,
Cause of death is of my choosing,
Burning them alive with fire, Dousing with poison, Flooding their homes with water
Destroying the foundation they worked night n' day to build and protect
Left shoe, ending their misery, but only after I had my fun
I was a natural disaster, a cataclysmic catastrophe, and i relished in the power
Of my adolescent ascendancy
You'll often see me on the train tracks playing Indiana Jones
Shooting stones with make-shit slingshots
At squirrels and birds
With the intent to kill, Missed every shot from my lack in skill
I'm sorry, grateful later on their blood I did not spill.
Grateful, that my hands are merely dirty, rather than stained
I often think back, Who gave me the right?
The justification to destroy and reap life
How Would I feel?
Becoming the very ants who lived on my block,
My heart would stop as I look up in shock.
This towering giant,
Killing my people, and there's no one there to help us

Real life,
I weep after all the bloodshed and misfortune
Bodies by the thousands, floating in the aftermath of Katrina...lifeless
Surviving Dogs and Cats,
Gathered on the rooftops without home or people to support them...Abandoned
Elderly left to drown in the very establishments meant for their well being...Neglect
The flood-waters lingered for weeks, bathing the land in blood and tears
We humans are now ants, but unlike the ones outside my house
Someone could of saved us.
Finally finished it, well sort of. Will be making a few changes in the next few days.

In the search of feedback. Since Im starting to get more into Spoken Word, I plan on performing this piece later on at a open mic when it's finished. XD

Any thoughts on it so far?
